This website was created by students from the Birmingham School of Media at Birmingham City University. They were Luke Holloway, Luke Seager, Jonathan Bridgewater, Hannah Ustel, Nierodha Perera and Dayle Stancliffe. Guidance and support came from two academic members of staff: Dave Harte and Vanessa Jackson. The website was created through a ‘Student Academic Partnership’, a scheme aimed at supporting innovative projects between students and academic staff.
This project aims to create a set of resources to help students engage effectively with social media in order to enhance their employability. It builds on research carried out in 2011 by Dave Harte, Vanessa Jackson and MA Social Media student, Mark Ashfield. The research identified that many students could benefit from learning about the ways in which other students were using social media in a professional context and also from some of the challenges and issues surrounding the use of social media.
We are keen that the resources here are added to and kept current. If you have material which might be useful for the site and which you are happy to be hosted here, then please contact us at email@example.com
